The CRYSTAL THIRTY EIGHT was inspired by the DR50/4 of the mid '70s with some major changes.

The power supply is severely overbuilt and totally "Bulletproof" with many additional filtering stages. The transformers and choke are  custom built , hand wound, directly over the core on a paper bobbin.

The CRYSTAL has a single tone control that is completely by-passable. When turned off it is completely removed from the circuit. A Line out jack is provided for direct connection to another amplifier,  recording-mixing console or monitor headphone.

The Chassis
Point to Point hand wired using the finest materials available. Aluminum chassis are used for faster response and better tone. Both of the transformers, and the choke are custom wound directly on paper
 
 for TONE that is simply not available in a factory produced amp.   The output transformer has seven interleaves, delivering all of the precious TONE that the premium tubes are producing. With a simple, uncluttered and direct signal path, there are no tonal losses incurred along the way. All of the CRYSTALs take very well to effects and feature a LINE OUT jack to directly interface a mixing console, or slave to another amp.

  •  12AT7 (JJ Electronics) First gain stage preamp tube. 

  • 12AX7S (JJ Electronics) Second gain stage
    and phase inverter.

  • Two (JJ Electronics) 6L6GC Power tubes. 

  •  5AR4/GZ34 (Sovtek) Rectifier

    Being cathode self biased, the CRYSTAL THIRTY EIGHT will also accept EL34 power tubes. A plug in solid state rectifier may also be used in place of the GZ34.

CRYSTAL THIRTY EIGHT with optional chrome plated hood and LED Illuminated toggle switches.

"Under The Hood" Lighting  uses two special lamp fixtures that are powered from a separate, dedicated rectifier circuit. Their use has no effect on the heater voltages in the amplifier.  The brightness is controlled by dimmer knob located on the rear of the chassis. You can set the brightness to mildly accentuate the glow of the tubes, or crank it up and make the Hood virtually disappear.   Add $100.00 for this option.  

The Chrome Plated Hood upgrade adds a sleek look to the design of the CRYSTAL Line. Normally, the CRYSTAL comes with a painted hood. Choice of textured finish colors. Add $175.00 for chrome plating.

Folding Chrome Handles furthers the High Class look of the CRYSTAL. Add $75.00 for this option. 

LED Illuminated Toggle Switches When you turn on the power the switch lights up green, and the standby switch lights red. When switching to play, the red turns to green!  Add $50.00 for this option.
