About The ACEY-TEN

This is an accurate re-creation of the AC-10 circuit. Circa 1960. The only deviations from the original schematic are:  The addition of a fuse to the AC line, The addition of a standby switch, The power supply filtering has been upgraded and the footswitch has been illuminated, borrowing 3.4 volts from one leg of the heater circuit.   This amplifier operates in Class A, Push-Pull with Cathode bias. There are two rather unique NOS tubes. A miniature pentode preamp tube (EF86), And an ECF82 which is a Pentode and a triode. While these are a little hard to find, they are not in short supply. The rectifier, an EZ81, also NOS, is a miniature 6.3 volt heated rectifier. The remaining tubes, a 12AX7S and a pair of EL84s, are JJ Electronics, premium new stock.

Front Panel Controls:

  • Input Jacks: There are four inputs. Two for each channel, #1 Bright and #2 Normal.

  • Tone: While this effects both channels, it’s main influence is on the normal channel.

  • Normal Volume: Controls the sound level for the normal inputs.

  • Vibrato Volume: Controls the sound level for the vibrato inputs.

  • Amplitude: Controls the intensity of the vibrato.

  • Speed: Regulates the frequency of the vibrato.

  • On/Off: Connects the mains transformer to the AC line voltage.

  • Pilot lamp: Indicates the presence of power to the mains transformer.

  • Play/Standby: Connects the High Voltage to the tubes.

A word about Quality:

All of the parts and materials used in the construction of this component are of the very highest quality available.

The cabinet is crafted from select American Red Oak with other hardwoods available as an upgrade. Dovetail joinery, Stainless Steel hardware, and a hand rubbed finish make this  product one of heirloom quality.

 The Aluminum chassis gives the amp faster response and better high end as aluminum is a better conductor than steel. Plus, it will never rust.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Optional 40 degree angle, shelf mounted chassis.
This locates the controls at the front top edge of the cab while allowing the chassis to remain upright.
This greatly improves the cooling  and stability of the amplifier.
With reasonable care you can expect many years of trouble-free service from this fine instrument.
About the Footswitch
 The footswitch controls the operation of the vibrato.  It plugs into the jack on the rear of the chassis on the extreme right. DO NOT plug the speaker into this jack as there is 3.4 volts AC power on this jack.  The footswitch must be connected for the vibrato to work.
The jeweled indicator takes a different bulb than the amplifier. It is a # 43, 3.4 volt miniature bayonet bulb.  Replacing it with the same one as the amp, (#47, 6.3 volt.), will cause no harm. It will just be a little dim.
